Description: Reaching a height of up to 20 - 100 cm, this perennial plant has elongated, alternate, undivided and serrated leaves, a 7 - 8 mm long flowerhead, 10 - 15 mm in diameter and with 5 - 8 yellow ligulate ray flowers in dense, upright, pyramid-shaped, secundiflorous, nodding panicles; entomogamous and autogamous; flowering season : VII - X; as a drug its effect is diuretic, spasmolytic and hypotensive ;
 
Occurence: Only scattered in the Northwest, otherwise widespread in sparse forests, on moors and pastures;
 
Related species: Occuring in two subspecies; furthermore: Solidago canadensis L., Canada goldenrod; frequent and widespread, introduced from North America, in the forests of river valleys, bank brush and rubblefields (VII - X); Solidago gigantea Ait. Var. Serotina (Ait.) Cronquist, Riesen-Goldrute; like previous species (XIII - X);

Allergology: Since it does not belong to the anemogamous pollination type, the pollen concentration in the air can only be small; as a result, the allergological relevance is only slight; a cross-reactivity to other composites is assumed.
